Gather on the Salish Sea

Deathwalker Training in Olympia, Washington

Welcome to the Salish Sea!

As a death doula, I welcome you with an open heart to our home near Olympia in the magnificent Puget Sound. This is a rare, onetime chance to learn from Zenith Virago in America!  As a mythologist, I was honored to train as a Deathwalker in 2018 and found Zen’s teachings to inspire a more profound, soulful experience with the dying than I was finding in America. As someone who has, since childhood, sat with the dying, I long craved a teacher who understood that “being authentically present” was one of the greatest gifts the soul can experience during this mythic shift from life to death.

Deathwalker training embraces the soul story of the person’s life by inspiring a deeper way of being present. This is a different type of teaching than the medical model that can be preoccupied with tasks and check lists.

We'll gather at our rustic house on the sea that sports view, on high bluff with beach access. We hope that while here, you will also visit our intentional altar space and blessing room as well as our arts and music cabin.

Our home library hosts scores of death and dying books, especially on End of Life world cultural traditions. Guests are welcome to borrow some while other titles may be kept forever. The exact address of the house will be sent to those of you who register, along with a Welcome page that features nearby hotels, eateries and local sights. If you want to discuss payment or have other questions, feel free to use the Sign Up page and scroll to Questions and Comments.

It is an honor to host Zen again in the US and learn from one of the most inspired healers in our work, and in our world. I am looking forward to getting to know you in Olympia, Washington. See you on the Salish Sea in August!

Take care,

Leslie Shore Ph.D., Death Doula and Mythologist
